Karl Strasser Obituary

Karl (Charlie) Herbert Strasser was born Sept. 20, 1931 in Eisolzried, Bavaria to parents Hedwig & Karl Strasser, died on March 3, 2024 in Flin Flon, MB.

He was their 3rd boy of 5. His family moved to Munich for a short time and then Dachau in about 1940.  Charlie was an avid soccer player and girl chaser.  He immigrated to Canada June 8, 1951.  He arrived in

Bissett, Manitoba with what he says “37 cents in my pocket and a paper suitcase” and couldn’t speak a word of English.

It was there he met his wife Lorraine Simard whom he married July 1952.  Together they had 3 sons.

Karl born 1952 d.2015, Kenneth born 1954 d.2015, and Alfred born 1956 d.1984. 

They resided in Bissett for 15 years and then moved to Snow Lake in February 1967. 

Charlie first job when arriving to Canada was with San Antonio Gold Mines, Bissett Mines, with his limited English, he thought he was going to San Antonio, Texas.   He stayed working in Bissett, and then moved on Redpath, Snow Lake.  Charlie and his family lived in the Uptown Trailer Court.

Through the years Charlie worked for Lundstrom, Aurora, McIntyre, and HBM&S until his retirement Sept. 20, 1996.

Charlie moved on to his second mate Netty Wood, whom he resided with for several years.  He moved on to his 3rd mate Agnes Henrickson for several more years.  In 2002 Charlie met and fell in love with the love of his life Audrey Robertson, nee McTaggart.  They lived a wonderful and happy life for 5 years until Audrey fell ill and passed Sept. 6, 2009.

Charlie is predeceased by mother, father, 4 brothers, and his 3 sons.  Karl June 2015, Kenneth January 2017, Alfred 1990.

He survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany and has maintained a special relationship with his niece Gabriele (Gaby) till his passing.

In keeping with Karl's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral service will be held.
