It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, brother-in-law and friend, John George “Dot-Dot” Ettawakapow, on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 54 years.
John George was born Thursday, March 18, 1965 in Moose Lake, Manitoba with his twin brother John Edward who passed at the age of 3 months.
John George was united in marriage to Eva Lena Cook on April 26, 1986 and together they had 5 children and thirteen grandchildren.
Dot-Dot went to school in Moose Lake and Cranberry Portage, where he received his grad twelve diploma. Dot-Dot was also a talented carpenter. He worked for Mosakahiken Cree Nation Housing projects. His greatest joy was being around family and friends. He loved to joke around with them and make them laugh.
Dot-Dot’s friends and family spoke fondly about him. There were no negative words said about him. At home he would help his dad fix his truck and every year they would decorate the house, even if they didn’t enter into the Christmas light contest. The reason why he kept doing this is because of his late brother Norman, Dot-Dot said to keep the tradition alive for the memory of Norman.
Dot-Dot was a kind and loving person and always had a smile for everyone and had a funny sense of humor. He loved his family and children whom he never forget and mention all the time. Dot-Dot loved spending time in The Pas where he hung around with friends. His parents would try and bring home but always resisted. He would ask for ten bucks and said he would be okay. He made The Pas his home.
Dot-Dot is survived by his parents Sam and Florence Ettawakapow; children John, Jeremy (Maria), Janine, Judy (Tron), Jacob (Karen); brothers Sam Jr., Ettawakapow, Leonard Ettawakapow, Alfred (Dora) Ettawakapow, Brian Bignell; sisters Isabelle (Jr) Ettawakapow, Florence (Metro) Patchenose, Denise Bignell; grandchildren Jazlynn, Tyson, Jrayden, Jordan, Jade, Amillio, Amelia, Amerre, Arianne, Jayda, Jason, Julee, June; uncles James (Susan) Ettawakapow, Raymond Tobacco, Douglas Lambert, Joe (Clara) Lambert; aunties Virginia Grey, Maryann (Rodrick) Bignell, Olive Lambert, Sylvia Lambert; Godchild Florence Pauline Patchenose; brother-in-law Jerry Young.
