Teddy James Head was born Friday, November 24, 1978 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, in The Pas, Manitoba to Ida and Theo Head. He joined big brother Sarain followed by little brother George and later welcomed adopted brother Devon.
Teddy had a passion for art. He grew up observing his father’s traditional artwork and carried the same love for creating and developing his craft.
Teddy grew up in The Pas and Winnipeg. He spent his childhood visiting relatives in Moose Lake, Shoal Lake and OCN. He later moved to Winnipeg and met his partner Krista.
Teddy received his grade 12 Diploma in 2002. He furthered his education at the University of Manitoba attending art classes. He worked various jobs in construction, renovations and cooking at different eateries. In 2003, he joined Graffiti Art Programming, Inc., this allowed him to mentor and teach his traditional art methods to the inner city youth. It gave him the opportunity to create murals in community centers around Winnipeg's inner city. He was showcased in multiple art galleries and the most recent art show was in 2016, titled "I.D".
Teddy brought laughter, joy and compassion to all who encountered him. His big smile and humorous nature made him friends easily. Teddy loved family gatherings and making art fun with his children. Teddy enjoyed teasing those close to him, giving nicknames to family and friends. Many of his cousins would look up to him as a big brother and as someone who would watch out for them.
Teddy had a deep love for his children. He loved being a dad, he cared for them in silly ways and was always up for laughs with his children. On November 1, 2017 Teddy welcomed his first grandchild Caeson Ethan Tobacco.
Teddy was called to the spirit world on Monday, October 21, 2019, in St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
