Helena was born, March 1st, 1976, at Thompson Manitoba. As a child, Helena Castel lived her early years in Thompson, Manitoba., then her late mother, Caroline moved to Leaf Rapids, Manitoba to live with her auntie and uncle David and Rose Castel. Helenas’ great uncle/auntie David and Rose were so happy to have and help raise a beautiful baby girl, who they called ‘my blond-haired baby girl’.

Helena was a guiding star and who shone her light for her partner Peter Bighetty, sisters, brother and especially her children. Hellena would tell and teach many different life long lessons to her family, siblings and friends. She was very kind hearted and generous to everyone she met and has raised numerous children, who she loved very much. She always mentioned Rockman Castel, her adopted son, whom she loved and adored. Hellena was very creative in her own way; she was always helpful in hosting a yearly Pow Wow with her partner Peter at her mother in laws yard. Always smiling and helping others was her best trade in life. She would travel to mile 71, where she calls home away from home. She would sit long hours with family and friends as she would share stories about family who came and visit her. She would cook a big pot of stew and bake fresh bannock to share.

Message from her partner Peter, siblings and children, mom if we could give you the world we would because that is exactly what you gave us, your world, your love, your everything, you have been our biggest protector, our greatest supporter and the one person who has never given up on us. Even though we all live many miles apart from you. We see your sacrifices, your strength, your endless love that is always on the go. We love you more than words can ever be expressed.

Helena passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the Nikawiy Health in Pukatawagan, Manitoba, at the age of 50 years.

Helena will always be remembered by her partner Peter Bighetty, her family and friends. She lived a long life with her partner, children Kristna Castel, Marveena Castel, Marvin Jr Colomb (Charity), Demas Colomb, Keeweetin Colomb, Blueson Sr Bighetty, Katlyn Bighetty, Peter Jr Bighetty, Marie Rose Bighetty, ThunderHeart Bighetty; grandchildren Sasha Castel, Jamall Castel, Jamira Castel, Bentley Cameron, Nations Cameron, Raiden Cameron, Tawny Colomb, Divine Colomb, Athena Colomb, Miswakmis Beardy, Presley Beardy, Kona Beardy, Wawatew Beardy, Lovesin Colomb; her siblings: Angel Castel and family, Sheena Castel (Cameron) and family, Treenia Castel (Jay) and family, Micheal Castel and family, Warren and family plus many relatives too numerous to mention. If we forgot anyone it was not intentional.
