Jeffrey
Joyal
May 8, 1973 — Jul 4, 2026
The Pas, Manitoba
After a courageous and heroic battle with complications due to diabetes and kidney disease, Jeff passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 53 years.
Jeff was born Tuesday, May 8, 1973, in The Pas, Manitoba and was the oldest of seven children born to Gary and Kathy Joyal.
Jeff graduated from MBCI in 1991. During his high school years, he enjoyed employment at Parker's Grocery Store. He then moved to Winnipeg, took Hotel and Restaurant Management at Red River College and worked in the hospitality industry for ten years. Jeff then switched direction and was a Document Examiner at the Provincial Land Titles Department. He moved back to The Pas in 2017, worked for a bit with Manitoba Highways and Transportation, then accepted employment with the Provincial Justice Department – Sherrif's Office.
Two years ago, Jeff's failing health required concerted care efforts, and he went on long term disability.
Jeff was friendly to all and well liked. He was humorous, cheerful, optimistic and enthusiastic. He was all about "possibilities". This wonderful curiosity led him to undergo five transplant procedures: one being a kidney, two islet transplant procedures and two pancreas transplants. Jeff knew the true meaning of gratitude and expressed it often and consistently to his health care providers, family and friends.
Jeff was a huge fan of the Montreal Canadiens, as were the rest of the family… all brain washed by his father! He also enjoyed music, comedic movies, good food, magical thinking and Pipper… his blue Budgie:)
Jeff and the good Lord had a loving relationship. Jeff always bowed in respect of God's will, knowing that his every breath was gift-given.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his parents Katherine and Gary; siblings Dan, Ginger, Chris, Doug and Jackie. He is uncle to Brea, Roman, Ally, Jake and Reese; great uncle to Harmony, Zachary and Phoenix. He remains loved by many cousins, aunties, uncles and friends.
Jeff was predeceased by his sister Jillian and all of his grandparents; uncles Don Joyal, Rene, Mike, Bob and Paul James Chartrand.
Thank you to Jeff's Health Care Professionals: Dr. Marie Noel, HSC Kidney Transplant Team, Toronto Pancreas Transplant Team, Seven Oaks Dialysis Team and The Pas Dialysis Unit Team.
Very special thanks to Robin and Dave Newton who hosted Jeff so lovingly in Winnipeg from February to May, while he was undergoing dialysis and training for home hemodialysis.
