Kelly Randal Zorn was born July 12, 1967 in Manitouwadge Ontario to Elma and was welcomed by 3 older brothers, Lyle, Brian and Dean. Later, upon returning to Manitoba another brother Kevin joined the family.

The ‘Zorn’ family was incredibly tight and protective. They were always in close contact and family was everything to them in a big way. Their squabbles were endless and sometimes got a little out of hand, but if an outside person tried anything to any member of the family, they were up against a force nobody wanted to contend with.

Kelly moved with his family back and forth between Winnipeg and The Pas several times as a child and youth, his mother being from Young’s Point. Although he would often recall being from the city, his connection to the land was strong and he had a passion for fishing, boating, and swimming.

He graduated from the Kelsey Adult Learning centre with his grade 12 diploma but also received certification as a Nurse’s Aide, in welding, in culinary arts, and in applied counseling. He never really could decide what he wanted to do when he grew up.

He worked in many different areas over his lifetime including the Self-Serve, as a respite worker, at the Action Centre, in kitchens, and sometimes wherever he could get work. He loved to volunteer; his favourite volunteer job was being Santa Claus. Over the years he would dress up as Santa and attend many local community Christmas events and parties, sometimes he would show up at people’s houses in costume to add some holiday joy to the family inside.

He had a loving nature and enjoyed being surrounded by others. His friends were invaluable to him throughout his life. He was known as a loud and funny person but also someone who would be there for you no matter what, in any way he could.

TV and movies were one of his favourite hobbies, and he would invite anyone to discuss what they were watching and enjoyed critiquing the latest releases. He always had a large collection of vhs tapes, dvds and then later on-line libraries.

Kelly enjoyed games and grew up in the days of Atari, Bam Arcade, Zelda, and the beginning days of Mario. He didn’t just love video games, but he also loved board, dice and card games. If VLTs were considered a game, he loved those too! He especially loved his cards buddies and often held late night games or attended them with the same group of friends over the years.

Kelly’s biggest love in life was his children. He was so proud to have his boys, they were his pride and joy no matter what.

Kelly leaves to mourn his sons Travis, Jayden, Avery, and Griffin; his brothers Lyle and Kevin; his aunty Rita and uncle Gary, stepchildren Andrew, Brooklyn, Reagan, and Jaxon, and his grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He is predeceased by his mother Elma and his brothers Brian and Dean.

On September 20, Kelly peacefully began his journey to be with those who went before him.
