Michael
Ross
Feb 8, 1964 — Sep 8, 2026
Opaskwayak, Manitoba
On Saturday, February 8th, 1964, Michael was born to life as the second son to Joseph Albert and Cecilia Marie Ross (Jebb) at St. Anthony's Hospital. With family members and his children at his side, Michael entered into the spirit world, Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
In his younger age, Mike attended elementary at Sacred Heart School in The Pas and graduated Grade 12 in 1982 at Margaret Barbour Collegiate. Mike continued his education journey by attending the University of Regina, and college in Fort Qu'Appelle.
Mike enjoyed sports and played in various groups including Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget as a center man where he created lasting friendships with his teammates. He also played little league baseball.
Mike volunteered to run the Shotgun and Canoes races at Joe A. Ross days, during Opaskwayak Indian Days for 40 plus years, along with his family and friends.
During Mike's Childhood, his parents Joe and Cecilia took all of their children travelling on many parts of Canada and USA. Joe and Cecilia wanted their children to have experiences outside of their home Opaskwayak Cree Nation.
Mike began his employment with OCN Employment & Training at the K Center on Waller Road, before moving to the OCN Youth Centre where he worked for 29 years until his retirement. Throughout his career, everyone knew that he could help the youth advance in their training and career.
The youth looked forward to the camps he organized. In the spring, Mike loved trapping and goose hunting. In the fall, he enjoyed moose and duck hunting with friends and especially his family.
Survived by his loving mother, Cecilia Marie (Joe) Ross, brother Glen Ross (Margaret), Little Sister Lana Ross, foster siblings: Big Sister Phyllis Mcleod, Roger (Georgina) Constant, Kenny (Angela) Crane, and Keith Crane.
