Thomas Leonard
Sandberg
Jun 5, 1951 — Oct 10, 2022
The Pas, Manitoba
Tom was born in The Pas, MB on Tuesday, June 5th, 1951 and he peacefully passed away on Monday, October 11th, 2022 in The Pas.
Family knew Tom as "Budda" and he was raised in Gillam, MB by Grandma "Maw" Sandberg. Tom left Gillam to attend school in Cranberry Portage at the FCI where he was a young man and took up his passion as a boxer.
Tom eventually moved back to Gillam where he married the love of his life Irene Crait and they soon moved to Thompson where they raised their 5 children. Tom worked on many Hydro Projects over the years and also worked on the surface at Inco Mines. The last project Tom worked was at Keeyask, he then retired in The Pas, MB.
We must say Tommie's biggest passion was hunting with his sons and brothers. They also loved to play the guitar and sing a few tunes and Tom loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Anyone that knew Tom also knew that he has a heart of gold. He certainly was a story teller. A family member could sit for hours listening to his stories and Tom will be missed by all that knew him.
Tom leaves to mourn his 5 brothers Albert, Raymond, Ivan, John, Stan, Eddy; his sisters Sarah, Lorraine, Marlene, Liz, Fran; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tommy was predeceased by his mother Victoria; father Thomas Sandberg Sr.; grandparents Margaret (Maw); Eric Albert Sandberg, Jack (Mary) Thomas;
his brothers Jack, Robert; sisters Shirley, Mary, Jane, Laverne; nieces Rachel, Jennifer, Jaclyn; aunts Dolly, Thelma, Elsie Sandberg, Rosilda Knutson; uncle Eric Franze, Stan Sandberg and Harry Knutson.
Viewing will take place on Monday, October 17th, 2022, at 7 p.m at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas. Cremation will take place and burial services will be held in Wabowden at a later date and will announced when arrangements are in place.
Tom will rest knowing he was loved by so many.
