It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Alexander Wilfred Bignell Young aka “pig” on Monday, April 20, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, at the young age of 28 years. Alexander was born to his loving parents Janet Bignell Young and the late Fredrick Wilfred Young on Friday, May 2, 1997 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas Manitoba. He was the oldest of his two siblings Flora Jane and Angel Grace.
Alexander was a proud uncle to his only nephew Jonah James Daniel’s. Alexander had many nicknames, “pig” “Mr. pig” “piggy smallz” “piglet” the list goes on. He was a very kind and outgoing soul with a contagious memorable laugh that will be remembered by all of those he shared laughter with. Alexander enjoyed driving around with his friends and family playing music, listening to his favourite artist Ohgeesy.
He attended his first concert back in 2022 meeting Ohgeesy in person and having his hat signed making a memory to cherish. Alexander also enjoyed his TV shows such as Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and The Simpsons. He loved going on walks, getting ice capps from Tim Hortons, and his all time favourite, snack wraps from McDonald’s.
In Alexander‘s younger years, he often went fishing with his parents Johnny and Janet in the summertime, and ice fishing in the winter along with skidooing with his two sisters.
Alexander was sadly diagnosed with kidney disease at the age of 14 and went on to do dialysis for the next 14 years of his life, our reason for Alexander’s ribbons, in support of The Kidney Foundation Of Canada. Alexander would always make the most out of his time he spent with friends and family despite his health, with a smile on his face, cracking jokes and making memories that will be cherished forever. He had many friendships and was loved by everyone that knew him, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. May you rest in paradise Alexander.
Alexander was predeceased by Fred Young, John Young; grandparents Jonah Bignell, Mildred Bignell, Johnny Young, Christie McCann, Alex Buck; best friend Lovely Jebb; and many other beloved family members.
Alexander is survived by his loving family, mother Janet; sisters Flora (Derek), Angel (Jon); only nephew Jonah James; grandparents Leona, Leonard Paul, Leonard Buck and family; uncle Franklin, Camila Young and family; Susan Head and family, Mike and Jen Bignell, Lawrence Paul, Leon Paul, Jonathan Young, John Young III and family, Mike Young, Brandon Young, Brittany Young and Zayden Christie, Dregous Young, Gloria McGillivary; and all extended family members. If we forgot anyone it was not intentional.
