Alice Doreen Lemkay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice “Doreen” Lemkay on March 8, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas MB. She passed away suddenly and peaceful with her beloved friends by her side. She was 86 years old.  

Doreen was born on February 23, 1939 in Elkhorn Mb to Jack and Evelyn Willis. She is survived by her brother Lorne Willis of Brandon Mb and her two nieces, Chelsey Dick (Jason) and Kara Hodgins (Brodie) on her side and many nieces and nephews on Gordon’s side, along with many beloved friends she called family. 

Doreen met her husband Gordon Lemkay in Virden Mb. They soon married on November 8, 1958. Shortly after they moved to Dauphin MB where Doreen worked many years at the credit Union. After sometime living in Thompson Mb, they settled and purchased an acreage in Wanless Mb. Gordon passed away on April 7, 2010 and shortly after Doreen moved and settled permanently in The Pas mb.

Doreen was predeceased by her husband Gordon, parents Jack and Evelyn and sister in law Lyla.

A special thanks to her beloved friend Joan Brown and family for all the love and care they gave Doreen over the years. Another special thanks to all the staff at St Anthony’s Hospital for taking such good care of her. 

An internment will be held at The Wanless community cemetery at a later date.

In keeping with family wishes, cremation will take place and a graveside service will be held in the summer of 2025.
