Andrew was born in Winnipeg on March11, 1950. Andrew was the third child born to Harold and Evelyn Goranson.
The family moved to The Pas in 1956 where Andrew and all of us grew up.
Sadly, Andrew passed away on July 8, 2024 in St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was predeceased his mom, dad and his brother, David.
He leaves to mourn his siblings Helen, Beatrice, Lloyd, Sheila, Donna and families, his good friends and neighbours, Bruce and Brooke McLean.
Andrew had all kinds of jobs during his lifetime, pulling freight with D-4 Cats north of Lynn Lake, a Forest Ranger, Rod Man for Highways, Cook/Baker and Equipment Operator.
Andrew started driving trucks even before he had a drivers license. On one of his driving jobs he was hit by a train. He didn’t let that stop him from driving. He just shook off the dust, injuries and kept on trucking.
Andrew eventually went to work for Les Heintz Construction. He worked for Les and Sharon Heintz for many years.
Andrew built his first house on Rall’s Island, sold the property and moved south to build a home on LES Heintz’s property, with no Hydro, no water, wood heat, propane lights. He bought an old Mack Tandem truck and went to work for himself. He called it Goranson Trucking. He was hauling gravel and top soil. After a while he bought a lot from Les and built a new house with all the modern amenities.
After that, Andrew started driving tour buses for Kelsey Bus Lines operated by Don and Vel McAdam in The Pas.
Andrew went on many trips to the United States and Canada. He was very proud that on one of his trips he got to meet Dolly Parton, who gave him a big hug. He always found a way to visit family in Winnipeg during his travels. He loved to travel and people loved travelling with him,
Eventually, due to health problems he had to give up driving bus. He always had a positive attitude and would not let things slow him down. He kept busy doing yard work, helping others and doing work with his old Case Tractor.
Andrew will be sadly missed by family, friends and always remembered.
Love, your family
