Barbara Ann Patricia Constant (Fenner) passed away peacefully with family by her side, at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 76 years.
Barb was born Monday, September 5, 1949 in The Pas Manitoba, to Thomas and Sarah Fenner. Barb lived in Cormorant as well as in The Pas throughout her lifetime. She attended Cormorant Lake School early years and moved on to KCC in The Pas and took a trade in Culinary Arts where she found the love and passion for cooking and baking. Everyone enjoyed gramma’s baking especially her buns and carrot cake.
Barb met the love of her life, Edward Constant and were married in the summer of 1968 at St. Lukes Anglian Church in Cormorant. They welcomed 6 children; Edward Jr., Timothy, Keith, Kimberly, Jeanette and Carrie.
At a young age, Barb and Bev Shlachetka were a part of the Junior Auxiliary for the St. Lukes Anglican Church where they travelled by train for church trips.
Barb was a stay at home Mom, raising her children while her husband worked in Cormorant and fished for his brother-in-law Ken Myers. Barb had many hobbies which include things like doing puzzles, playing cards and scrabble with friends, always cooking and baking for weddings and gatherings, and having her smoke sessions with friends (LOL). She also enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching and feeding the birds, collecting rocks, listening to music and going on her many adventures and road trips with her niece Elaine and good friend Linda Jean.
Throughout the years while raising her children, Barb also raised her grandson Quenton Constant and also took in her niece Elaine Brightnose also known as “Chauch”. She also spent a lot of her time babysitting for her nieces and nephews – Vern and Yvonne, Nicole and Trevor, Gary and Sandra, Eddy and Annette.
Barb was a traveller, she was always on the go. She spent a lot of time going to town to visit her close friends and family. Gramma’s greatest joy was spending time with all of her grandkids. She will be deeply missed be all of her loved ones but her legacy lives on through the countless memories she created with all her family and friends.
A cherished friend and loved one, may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
Barb is survived by her children Keith, Kimberly, Jeanette (Alfred), Carrie (Jason); brothers Art (Helen), Leslie, Donald, Kenneth; sister Shirley (Harold); grandkids Brendan (Kristen), Sarah (Kendall), Taylor (Courtney), Keighleigh, Brooklyn, Ronnie, Jason, Quenton C., Nucian, Lucian, Skylar, Quenton B., Vernell, Kyle P. and Kyle Lad.
