Delbert was born to the late Zaccheus and Mary Greenleaf on Saturday February 5, 1972 in The Pas, Manitoba. He was the oldest of their 3 children; Randy and Lydia.
Delbert was known for his sense of humor, he loved to tease his nieces and nephews and always expressed how much he loved each and every one of them. One of his greatest loves was his grandchildren, having Karaoke parties in the back yard with them while roasting hot dogs, his time with them was special, just as his time with his wife, Mary.
Mary and Delbert were married August 9, 2008 in The Pas and his love for her was beyond any kind of love he felt for anyone else, he would always say she’s my soul mate from God. Mary had three sons, Matthew, Ronald and Brandon from a previous relationship but in 1997 when Delbert and Mary began dating, he took those boys on as his own. In 1999 they were blessed with a son, Shane and Jr in 2005 but sadly lost baby Greenleaf in 2003.
One of his past times with his soul mate was taking rides in and around OCN and of course enjoying a sugar free iced coffee. Delbert enjoyed his freedom after his stroke with the use of his power chair; he would take his own adventures to the mall just to chat with family and friends he would run into and at times even venture to town.
Delbert attended school at Opasquia and Scott Bateman and began working at an early age helping his dad with carpentry and various odd jobs. It wasn’t until his dad began his teachings of the land; Delbert found his love for it. Often spending days/nights with his dad at their trapline was one of his greatest passions, passing it down to his son Shane. His love for angling by boat and ice fishing by ski-doo became something he couldn’t wait to do with his good friends Cecila Ross whom he called mom; Edwin Jebb and his cousins and sons, in fact anyone who wanted to join him were always welcomed by him. Going down river with family & friends was something Delbert loved since his dad taught him those many years ago.
Delbert is survived by his wife Mary; his sons Mathew, Ronald (Patricia), Brandon, Shane and Roderick; grandchildren, he loved and cherished Dante; Alaina; Kanses; Ambroise; Ron Jr. and Zairah; his mother Mary; and brother Randy (Kayla).
Delbert was predeceased by his dad, Zaccheus (German); his son, Baby Greenleaf; his daughter Larissa; sisters Lydia and Loretta; brother Jon George; grandparents Flora Ann and William Bignell, John and Flora Greenleaf; niece Crystal Phoenix; uncles Walter Cook, Alex Fossenueve, Colin Bignell, George Bignell and Matthew Bignell; aunties Angie Dumas, Nancy Norbury, MaryAnne Fossenueve; cousin John Cook; and his two, he considered brothers more then they were cousins, Simon John Greenleaf and Matthew “Chigun” Cook.
Delbert passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Sunday May 4, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 53 years. Delbert will be forever missed by his wife, Mary, his sons Mathew, Ronald, Brandon, Shane and Roderick Jr; his grandchildren Dante, Alaina, Kanses, Ambrosi, Ronald Jr. and Zairah, his little monkey he would call her.
Family of Delbert would like to thank everyone that made Delbert’s life that much better. If we missed anyone, it was not intentional.
