Donald George Ayres, age 68, of The Pas, Manitoba, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with family and friends by his side.
Don (Big Dog) was born on December 22, 1957, in Lindsay, Ontario, to Edna and Bob Ayres. He was a devoted husband to Laura, and they shared 14 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and shenanigans.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laura, their dog Daisy, brother Willie, uncle Bill, cousins Warren and Lakem, niece Alex, and nephews Talyor and Travis, as well as extended family, and many friends and members of the community.
Don (Big Dog) was known for his humour, kindness, generosity, and ability to laugh even in tough times. He enjoyed pyrotechnics, collecting antique signs, and building his man cave and took great pride in his life with Laura. His presence brought joy to those around him, and he will be deeply missed.
A vigil prayer service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 @ 7:00 pm at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Pas, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 2 @ 1:00 pm. Interment will be at a later date in the Domain Cemetery. The Mass on Saturday will be livestreamed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wheels of Hope or Cancer Care in his memory.
