Donald McNabb Obituary

It is with great sadness we the family of Reverend Donald William McNabb, announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, DAD, Uncle, Brother, Neestow, Netim, Grandpa, Chapan, great-great Chapan, Godfather, Friend and Elder on, Saturday, June 20th, 2026 in the early morning hour of 8:40 am at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas Manitoba, at the age of 79 years.

Dad was born in Moose Lake Reserve on Friday, August 5th, 1946 to parents George and Jennie (nee Lathlin) McNabb.

Dad met the love of his life 59 years ago, Cecilia Jane Patchenose and were united in marriage on October 19th, 1966 in Moose Lake, MB together they raised 13 children, throughout the years they accepted and accommodated many others as their own too numerous to mention.

Dad like to hunt fish, trap, telling stories especially to his grandchildren, drawing, puzzles, coloring, he was a Logger, Carpenter, our Dad had a green thumb he was a Gardener (was proud of his garden) he loved to go berry picking and camping, showing the boysuk how to survive in the wilderness and to Respect Nature, He also enjoyed listening to gospel  music and country music while whistling, Dad adored the Vernon McNabb Memorial Square Dancers which mostly consisted of his children and loved to watch square dancing in particular.

During his journey as Layreader in 1995, Dad travelled with others to London, England and Tanzania, South Africa therefore entrusting his Faith in the Lord and becoming his servant in Ministry.

Dad began his journey in Priesthood on February 24th, 2002, where he was ordained as a Deacon and later on as a Priest on June 11th, 2003 in The Pas, MB.

Dad was an active Church Worker, Bellringer, he also loved going to hymn sing and sang to himself often. Dad always cared about what the church needed, and always found a way to get it. Dad will be remembered on Christmas Eve whereas he gave all children candy bags to all who came to church, Dad did this every year and encouraged to keep as a family tradition.

Dad loved Camping, Quading with Mom while berrying picking or picking sinagaroot, this is where Dad would gather the grandchildren that can fit on the quad and take them for a ride. Dad loved to watch sports, hockey, football, baseball, wrestling, Olympics and old and western movies. Dad loved to do puzzles, paint them up and glue into a frame, all hung around at St. Paul's Residence Care Home, The Pas.

Dad enjoyed being in the outdoors, going to see his friends, having his morning cup of coffee, chatting on his cell with friends and family and making sure his grandchildren were well taken care of, Dad absolutely loved them all which made it possible for  him to prioritize being a "Grampa" first.

Dad also worked for Jock McAree at Lamb's Store.

Dad became ill in 2023, having to relocate and reside in care home at St. Paul's Residence, The Pas, MB. Dad met many friends, Nurses, and workers and will be lovingly remembered for his friendship and passion for his Ministry during his stay at the care home, until his passing.

Dad was humble, gentle, caring, strong, loving in many ways, Dad never let anyone struggle and always taught to be Thankful and Love one another.
