It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Lorraine Dyck (Koop) on July 28, 2025, in The Pas, MB, at the age of 77. Dorothy fought a long and courageous battle with cirrhosis of the liver.
Dorothy was born on July 26, 1948, in Turtleford, SK, to Bernice and Cornelius Koop. She later moved with her family to North Battleford, where she met the love of her life, Ivan Charles Dyck. Together they welcomed two daughters and a son, and made their home in Meadow Lake, SK, where they farmed and raised their young family.
After Ivan’s sudden passing in 1977, Dorothy moved her three young children – aged 3, 7, and 9 – to The Pas, MB, to be closer to her mom and stepdad. She worked hard to provide for her family, first at A&W, then attending KCC for culinary training. After graduating, she worked in the cafeteria at the college.
She later moved to Whitecourt, AB, where she shared her life for a time with a wonderful partner, Dan Wardrop (Grandpa Dan), before returning to The Pas, where she remained.
Dorothy had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved cats. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, coffee outings with friends and family, and the simple joy of people-watching. Her determination, spirit and stubbornness will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her children: Anita (Kelly) Genaille, Nadine Lalonde, and Issac Dyck; grandchildren: Dallas (Kyle) Toews, Hillary (Daniel) Baker, Jesse Kroeker, Alyssa (Leo) Godoy, Justin Genaille, and Zoe Genaille; great-grandchildren: Ashton Baker, David Baker, Jacob Toews, Bowen Baker, and Hailey Toews. She also leaves behind her siblings: Peggy Perrault, Stewart Koop, Kenny Koop, Vivian Young, and Bev Koop; many nieces and nephews; and her cherished cat, Buddy.
She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Charles Dyck, her father Cornelius Koop, mother Bernice (Nichol) Lindsay, stepfather Don Lindsay, and brother Murray Koop.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Hemauer Funeral Home. Cremation to follow.
In honor of Dorothy’s love for animals, donations may be made to The Pas & Area Animal Shelter.
