Edward Sanderson

It is with heaviness in our hearts to announce the passing of our loved one Edward Dean Sanderson, aged 51, was born Wednesday, February 7, 1973 in The Pas, Manitoba. Died Thursday, January 23, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta.

Edward who was known as “Deano”. He grew up in Moose Lake with aunties, uncles, cousins, friends and his siblings. He loved hanging out with everyone and always joking around. Deano was the oldest out of all our Granny Olive’s grandchildren. Edward lived most of his early years and teenage years with our Granny Olive Sanderson whom he called mom.

Edward was into sports; his favorite was soccer and he enjoyed playing with the Falcons, 49’ers and Moose Lake Monarchs. He also played in school sports volleyball, badminton and floor hockey. He loved hanging out with his friends and joking around. Edward was also an Education Assistant with his mom while she worked in Nelson, BC. He helped her and taught the Cree language while he was there. 

Edward had 2 sons Joseph and Josiah. He also had 3 Godchildren. When events for them would happen he would just show up without anyone knowing. Edward enjoyed traveling and seeing places he had never been, meeting new people and exploring different cultures. Edward grew up fast and when he wanted to do something or go some where he would disappear not letting anyone know, he would just go, kind of like his late mother. Edward was hard headed and he had a good heart.

Edward had 2 siblings, his little sister Danielle and his little brother David who he would watch over, protect and guide whenever they needed. He never hesitated to help out with family events or community events if they were happening in the community. 

Edward leaves to mourn his father Eli Miles; siblings Danielle Sanderson and David Sanderson; his nieces and nephews; his uncles Ken (Julie) Sanderson, Abraham Sanderson, Joseph Jr. Sanderson, Jerry Ron (Tanya) Campbell; aunt Josephine Sanderson; sister-in-law Naomi McNabb; and all of his cousins to numerous to mention.

Edward was predeceased by his mother Doreen Sanderson; grandparents Marlene and Joseph Sanderson; great grandparents Hilda and Joseph Sinclair; aunts Christina Young, Charlotte Sanderson, Adeline Ettawakapow, Stella Bell; uncle Burton Sanderson; cousins Hannah Sanderson, Amanda Sanderson, Kelly Sanderson, Glen Sanderson, Demitri Sanderson; nephew Ken Jr. the 3rd and nephew Nikka Sanderson; and numerous family members. If we forgot anyone it was not intentional.
