Celebration of life for Edwin Darrel Johnson

On May 14th, at 12:36 a.m., Edwin Darrel Johnson, long-time resident of The Pas, passed away at the age of 67, surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born on February 18, 1957, in Porcupine Plain, SK, to Ken and Joy Johnson, and spent years on the family farm at Neely Lake. When life became too difficult, the family moved in search of better times, first to Weekes, then to Moosomin, and finally settled in Hudson Bay. On October 29, 1974, Ed welcomed his beautiful twin daughters Jennifer and Joanne into the world.
In 1976, he met the love of his life, Dena, and they soon moved to The Pas, MB. Ed dedicated 25 years working for the local mill. It was only when his MS became unmanageable that he made the difficult decision to retire in order to protect the safety of his coworkers. However, his love for heavy equipment never left him.
Ed is survived by his wife, Dena, of 46 years; his daughter, Joanne of Saskatoon, SK; siblings - Sandra Salmond (d. Raymond) of Porcupine Plains, Gay (Paul) Upton of Hudson Bay, SK, Mark (Cheryl) Johnson of Hudson Bay, SK; son-in-law Jason Genaille; Grandchildren Jacob, Madison, Ella Blue, and Maggie Jo Genaille of Biggar, SK and Jaiden and Jarin Poitras of Saskatoon. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Shirley Davidson of The Pas, MB; Brothers-in-law: Dean (Deborah) Davidson of The Pas, MB, Don (Linda) Davidson of Vanscoy, SK; Nieces: Claudia (Jadon) Potter of Saskatoon, SK, Olivia (Felipe) Calle of Warman SK; Desirea Howell of Saskatoon; Chandelle Johnson of Australia: Nephews: Keith (Kimmie) Davidson of Calgary, AB, Josh (Christina) Davidson of Saskatoon, SK, Andrew (Kasie) Davidson of the Grand Cayman Islands, Milton (Sheryl) Salmond of Simcoe, ON, Daron (Sasha) Salmond of Hudson Bay, SK., Warren (Angela) Upton of Kamloops BC, Brent (Jennifer) Upton of Saskatoon; Rob Howell of Salmon Arm, BC, Taylor Howell of The Pas, MB, Mitch (Brooke) Elliott of Saskatoon, SK; Tyson (Kim) Elliott of Warman, SK; Jorden Elliott of Saskatoon, SK. Ed loved and looked forward to seeing his family when they came to visit and had a special love for his many great nieces and nephews. Ed’s beautiful fur baby Gracie will miss her daddy very much.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Ken and Joy Johnson, his daughter Jennifer Johnson- Genaille; niece – Lynn Johnson; father in law- George Davidson.
Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
