Emmanuel Godin Obituary

Emmanuel Jean-Louis (Manny) Godin

December 27, 1932 - July 2, 2023

Emmanuel died peacefully with family by his side, Sunday, July 2, 2023, at St. Anthony's General Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 90 years.

Emmanuel was born Tuesday, December 27, 1932, in The Pas, Manitoba. He was the oldest child of 4 children born to Edmond and Antoinette Godin.

He lived his entire life in The Pas with the exception of attending school in Ottoburne, Manitoba for grades 7 to 12.  This is where he met his wife of 68 years Lucienne Catellier from LaRochelle, Manitoba. They were married May 21, 1955 in St. Malo, Manitoba and resided in The Pas.

Emmanuel (Manny) worked for his dad at Godin's Bakery, until health problems arose. Dad then moved into sales, first with McGavins Bread and then moved into meat sales with Swift Meats, Intercontinental Packers and National Meats. Also during his career in sales, dad also ventured into the restaurant business with Chicken-Ribs, Pizza Place and the Fuzzy Orange. After his retirement in 1998 he took on a part time meat wrapping job at the Grub Box, which he loved.

Dad always saw the good side of everything, you would ask him how he was and he would always reply

"I am wonderful, the sun is shining, and I'm in God's country," always putting a smile on everyone's face with his uplifting positive way. Dad also had a witty sense of humor. He always included humor in his conversations with you, leaving you with a smile and a fond remembrance of the last conversation you had with him. We would often share these conversations with our siblings and we would all have a good chuckle. Dad was always very encouraging with his children when it came their interests and passions.

Dad is survived by his wife Lucienne; sister Annette Baron; and his seven children Marielle Lewicki (John), Denise Godin (John), Jocelyne Godin, Reynald Godin (Kim), Claudelle Needham (Terry), Gisele Godin (John), Marc Goin (Shauna); 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Dad was predeceased by his sisters Deanna Godin, Irene Zaharia; brother-in-law Don Zaharia and Wally Baron; parents Edmond and Antoinette Godin.

As dad would always say, "It has been a hell of a ride!"  ….and it was.

Love you forever.

In keeping with family wishes, cremation will take place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
