Evans has embarked on his final journey to eternity, passing peacefully at home, surrounded by
his loving family. The world will be a little quieter without his wisdom, laughter, and advice.
Lawyer. Entrepreneur. Pilot of 1500hrs. Rotarian. Veteran. Community Leader. Conservative.
Lifelong Learner.
In the 1960s, Evans established a law practice in The Pas, Manitoba. Flying into remote
communities, he would unfold his collapsible bicycle and ride to the local café, ready to assist
those in need. Recognizing the lack of legal aid in Northern Manitoba, he fought tirelessly to
implement a system that would serve the underserved.
Evans entrepreneurial spirit took him from law to real estate and development, where he built a
lasting legacy with apartment buildings, The Wescana Inn, and at 92, successfully negotiated
the purchase of a shopping mall. He remained endlessly curious—golfing weekly, signing up for
voice lessons, woodworking, growing a beard. His thirst for knowledge and new experiences
never faded.
A proud Rotarian for 65 years, Evans earned four Paul Harris Awards and was an active
member of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners. His faith was a cornerstone of his
life, and the United Church provided him with inspiration and fellowship.
Above all, his greatest joy was family. With his beloved Mardene, he raised four strong,
independent daughters: Lynn of Richmond, Carol (Cam) of Winnipeg, Lisa (Alan) of The Pas, and
Marla (Dan) of Lillooet. He was a devoted grandfather to Evan (Kira), Nikki, Ryan (Lauren),
Adam, Jarvis, Kali, Austin, Ethan (Jessica), and Jacob, always eager to hear their stories and offer
guidance.
Evans lived by his mother’s values: be honest, be kind, and help others. He was a man of integrityand generosity, leaving a profound impact on everyone he met.
