Evelyn (Stewart) Shelvey

Evelyn Shelvey passed away sadly September 12, 2023 at St. Anthony Hospital with family by her side. Evelyn was born August 6, 1948, to the late John and Verna Stewart at Virden General Hospital. She grew up in McCauley and attended school there, until she went to Brandon in order to pursue hairdressing. The oldest of 5 siblings, she was predeceased by her mother and father along with her sister Shirley Stewart and many aunts and uncles. Evelyn leaves to mourn her sisters Elaine Stewart, Carol Payne(Erin), her brother Robert Stewart (Bonnie), and her children Evan Shelvey (Sandra) and Valerie Shelvey (Shaynne) as well as grandchildren Alesha and Bradly Jackson including her husband Doug Shelvey. Along with many friends of hers. Evelyn worked at the Met for many years, meeting some of her best friends along the way. She worked at the Saan store for many years as well, where she met more friends who she loved and cherished Evelyn loved working in retail, she worked hard all her life. Met many people along the way, Giant Tiger is where she worked till her end, loving every minute of it. Evelyn loved Christmas time, making sure to decorate every season, she found joy and love in giving gifts to her family together with sharing big meals. Another thing Evelyn loved was to travel around and visit family near and far. Every September she was on the road and enjoying her life. Hemaure Funeral Home is in charge of her final arrangements and her service taking place on September 26th, 11:00 am, at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, The Pas,  followed by a luncheon.
