Fernand (Fernie) Gofflot
July 4, 1932-November 25, 2024.
92 years
Fernie passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s personal care home.
He is survived by his children Bernard (Sherri), Greg, and Bonnie (Bruce), five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Lucille and sons Kelly and Derrick.
Fernie was born in the Eriksdale, Manitoba and spent his early childhood years there and in the Métis community of Pine Bluff where he learned to trap and hunt with his father.
In 1948, the family moved to Carrot Valley where they purchased their farm and Fernie spent the next nearly 50 years farming along with his father and brother, Donald.
He married Lucille in 1957 and brought her to the farm where they happily raised their family.
Fernie loved to hunt, fish and trap and shared these skills with his children. The family has many happy memories of spending time with cousins and extended family in the St. Rose area.
About once a week, the family drove into town for supplies and to visit with Fernie’s sisters and their kids. Church every Sunday was also important.
Fernie retired from farming in 1997 and he and Lucille moved to town. He still regularly visited the Valley and his farming community friends until he gave up his drivers license in 2022.
Fernie spent the last couple of years in St. Paul’s personal care home and the family is very grateful for the care he received from the staff there.
