Frederick Stevenson Obituary

Frederick Stevenson was born in The Pas, Manitoba on Sunday, November 3, 1957, at St. Anthony’s Hospital.  His parents were the late Hagar Stevenson (nee Mink) from Opaskwayak Cree nation and the late Donald Stevenson, originally from Norway House, Manitoba.

Fred attended school in Norway House as a young boy and later on attended McKay Residential School in Dauphin, Manitoba.  He worked in various jobs throughout his life.  He worked for CN on the extra gang where he had the opportunity to travel to other communities in the north.  He mentioned quite a few stories about his escapades, which brought laughter to his audience.  He worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital in his teen years and worked at the Thompson mine.  Fred also had jobs as a carpenter at OCN.

Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with friends.  He loved playing card games with his friends and watching movies.  His favorite place to go eat breakfast was the “Donuts and Deli” at the mall.

Fred passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba at the age of 68 years.

Fred is survived by his siblings Mary Stevenson, Lucy Harris, Patrick (Val) Stevenson, Sylvia (Henry) Christie, Conrad Stevenson; many nieces, nephews, cousins too numerous to mention.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Don and Hagar Stevenson; grandparents David and Margaret Mink (nee Lathlin); uncles Ahab Mink, Andrew Mink, Harvey Mink; aunties Mary Sumner, Mabel Mink, Bella Beardy, Harriet Mink, Matilda Mink; nieces Betsy (Stuart) Bignell (nee Harris), Angel Christie; nephews Peter Stevenson, Charlie Harris, Jordan Stevenson-Lathlin, Darrien Chartrand, Heath Noble.  If we forgot anyone it was not intentional.
