Gerald Moen Obituary

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021 Gerald (Jerry) Lee Moen passed away peacefully at the age 83 years.

Jerry was born on February 3, 1937 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He was the eldest son of Mike and Miller Moen and his birth father Elmer Kantrud.

He learned at a young age to be an honest, reliable, and hard worker. Many have shared that he was always genuine and an excellent mentor. Although he had minimal education he obtained a ticket in the Sheet Metal/Gas Fitter trade. Jerry was a volunteer fire fighter (#20) for numerous years. Lieutenant Jerry was very proud that he had his ticket to do firework displays for the community.

He met Irene Rempel and they married on October 26, 1956 in Beaver Flat, Saskatchewan. They had two daughters – Judy and Bev. He worked various jobs throughout Saskatchewan (Regina, Swift Current, Weyburn, and Shanavon) before settling into a career in the propane business. He moved his family to The Pas in 1969 with a promise of it will be only 2 years...after many years of town living in 1982 they bought their home at Clearwater Lake where endless fond memories were created and lifelong friendships developed; ultimately creating their life in The Pas. Throughout his different residences in The Pas he always found lasting friendships. His family is forever grateful to his neighbours and friends both near and far who took the time for him.

Dad always enjoyed a round of cards, happy hour, visits and his Saturday Bingo with Irene.

A huge thank you to Jana and Dr. Wilson for the quality care in carrying out his final wishes.

He is survived by his lifelong spouse Irene Moen, daughters Judy Hagborg, Bev (Darrell) Hogue; grandchildren Stacy (Jason) Anaka, Kerri (Dustin) Patterson, Ashlee (Riley) Wlasichuk, Jarrett Hogue (Lexi Pechout); great-grandchildren Wyatt, Nathan, Caeleb, Oliver, Everleigh Anaka; Linden, Holden and Brynn Wlasichuk. Also survived by his brothers Glen (Rose), Dale (Connie), Hank and Brian (Delores); his sisters Norma and Susan (Clark); brother-in-laws Don (Darlene), Lynn (Fern), Stan (Linda); 2 sister-in-laws both named Margaret Rempel. He was also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, his sister Wanda; great-granddaughter Hailey Brooke; his mother-in-law Anne Klassen and brothers-in-law Bill Cook, Lloyd, Ray and Victor Rempel.

Donations to The Pas Health Complex would be greatly appreciated by Jerry’s family.

In keeping with family wishes, cremation will take place and a private family gathering to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at a later date.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
