Harriet "Stella" Lathlin Obituary

Harriet Irene Lathlin, aka “Stella”, was born on Friday, May 1, 1959.  It is with great sadness she passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, she was 66 years old.  Stella passed away at the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by her loved ones and friends.

Stella was born in Opaskwayak, to Arthur and Lillian Lathlin.  She grew up and resided in Carrot River on Opaskwayak Cree Nation.

She worked for the The Pas Indian Band, OCN band office and the community for numerous years.  She loved the outdoors, visiting friends and family, along with fishing and mingling with fellow community members.

Whenever she was in the city, she always wanted to make new friends at the Siloam Mission.

Stella had a very big heart and she loved everyone; young, old and in between, and animals. She was also loved by everyone.

Stella helped anyone that came to her, even if it was just for cheering up, cause no one could be sad or upset when she was around.  She had many hang outs and loved to hang out with her friends at the Otineka Mall and Giant Tiger in town.  She loved hanging out with her best friend and niece,  Joyce and her fighting partner Levi.  Sometimes Joyce would lose her when mom and Shyanne would go on their adventures and getting into trouble.

Stella always enjoyed attending any community events, feasts or gatherings.

Stella had a great personality, she was charismatic and non-judgemental, she loved everyone equally.  She always had a come back and loved to joke around.  It was never a dull moment when she was around.

Stella leaves to mourn her children Val, Samantha, Clifford, DJ and her bepeem Kenneth (Constance) Horn, Klerry; grandchildren Brooklyn (Riel), Judge, Tobias, Tanhe, Hailey, Aiden, Anessa, Arden, Jedd, Junior, Rhianna; chapans Sandra, Raniya, Ricco, Remii, Briley, Raylen and Carlos; brothers Dennis "Scamp" (Amanda) and Riley (Lori); nieces Joyce, Lorette (Mike), DeeDee (Dean), Amanda (Charles), Tina,; great nieces Elyse (Sam), Natanis, Nikkita, Caitlin, Precious (Memphis), Carley, Keely, Shyanne;  nephews Blair Turner, Terrance "Mikey" (Rosie) Lathlin, Cheechoo Lathlin, Camachoo, Art, Curtis, Dougie; sisters-in-law Rose and Olive; and numerous Ballantyne and Lathlin family members. Also, her very close friends Joe "Murphy", Dean (Virginia), along with her Coney Island and Blue Cat besties.

Stella was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Lillian Lathlin; daughter Martha Lathlin; siblings Oscar Lathlin (Matilda Daniels), Muriel “Lola” (Stanley) Turner, Sam (Pauline) Lathlin, Archie Lathlin, Donald Lathlin, Matilda Lathlin; grandparents Simon and Harriet Ballantyne and Arthur and Sophia Lathlin; sisters-in-law Pauline Lathlin; uncles and aunties from the Ballantyne and Lathlin families; nephew Austin Lathlin-Bercier, Bradley Lathlin; nieces Davina Carriere, Marla Pascal. If we have left anyone out, it is not intentional.
