In loving memory of Helen Stella Marie Kulhavy
Helen Kulhavy, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, at the age of 70 in The Pas, Manitoba. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and humor that her family and friends will forever cherish.
Helen was born on March 21, 1953, in The Pas to parents John and Beatrice Bilow. She, along with her five siblings, lived in Barrows and Powell, Manitoba, where she grew up, before marrying her late husband, George Kulhavy, in 1970. Helen and George lived across Red Deer Lake, where they started their family, and then settled in National Mills for nearly three decades. Over the years, Helen touched the lives of many she worked with from her positions at the local community school, within administration for the town council, and finally as a health care aide before retiring in Swan River, Manitoba, in 2007.
Family and friends were the joy of Helen’s life. Throughout her 70 years, her warm smile and inviting spirit welcomed countless visitors into her home. Some of the fondest memories of Helen will be remembered sitting across the table from her with a cup of coffee. She loved being outdoors, fishing, gardening, sewing, and caring for her animals.
Helen’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all blessed to know her. She is survived by her daughter, Denise; her granddaughters, Desirae, Danielle, and Season; and her siblings, John and Gail. Helen was predeceased by her father, John, Mother Beatrice; husband of 36 years, George; partner of 12 years, Bill Munro; daughter, Pamela; sisters, Joan and Hazel; and brothers, Raymond and Delbert.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, a cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held in Powell, Manitoba, in the summer of 2024.
Helen Kulhavy will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and light she brought into the world.
