Hellena (Charlette) Castel

Hellena was born Thursday,  October 3, 1929, on the trapline at Spruce Point, Kississing Lake, Manitoba. As a child, Hellena (Lena) Charlette Castel lived her early years in Sherridon, Manitoba. Where she met her husband Peter Castel and got married at Sherridon. They later moved to Pukatawagan where she raised her family, although they moved to many different places.

  Hellena (Lena) was a guiding star to her children, she taught many different life long lessons to her family and friends. She was very kind hearted and generous to everyone she met, and has raised numerous children who she loved very much.

Hellena was very creative in her beadwork and crafts. She was a very inspirational women towards everyone she met. She would sit long hours with family and friends as she would share stories about family who have passed on and always had fresh bannock in her kitchen to share with others that came by her place to visit.

Mom, if we could give you the world we would because that is exactly what you gave us your world, your love, your everything, You have been our biggest protector, our greatest supporter and the one person who has never given up on your children even when we made mistakes you loved us through it all. We see your sacrifices, your strength, your endless love. We love you more than words can ever be expressed.

Hellena passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the West-Man Care Home, Virden, Manitoba, at the age of 95 years, her other stay was In Flin Flon Manitoba Care Home. Hellena will always be remembered by her family and friends. She survived a long life with her Children; Ernest (Suzette) Castel and family, Sarah Jane Dumas and family, Phillip Castel and family, Late Lloyd Castel and family, Late Juliet Castel and family, Late Victor Castel and family, Late Caroline Castel and family, Late Peter Charlette and family, Late Dennis Castel Griffin and family; Cuzzen, Max Charlette; Sisters, Bernadette Young,  Flora, Mary Villeneuve, Rose Castel; and numerous grandchildren. If anyone is not mentioned it was not intentional.

Hellena is predeceased by her Parents, Mathias and Sophie Charlette; Special Parents, Charles and Jean Charlette; Grandparents, Phillip and Angelique Charlette (Sherrit); Sons, Victor Castel, Lloyd Castel, Peter Charlette, Dennis Castel Griffin, Clifford Castel, Alvin Castel; Daughters, Juliet Castel, Caroline Castel;  Sister, Elsie Bighetty; Brothers, Antoine "Scram" Charlette, Gabe Charlette, Mary and Don Villeneuve, David Charlette, Phillip Charlette, John Charlette, Jacob Charlette,; Cuzzens, Antoine "Boxy" Charlette, Sarah Castel, Maggie North, Angelique Colomb, Virginia Charlette, Juliet Charlette Nicholas; Sisters in law, Marie Sinclair, Domithilda Castel, Margarette Castel; Grandson’s, Keith "Slim" Lambert Charlette, Joe-Joe Charlette; Great nephew, Lambert Roy Charlette, and many relatives and other children that she took in as her own, too numerous to mention.
