John Walter Illsley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at St Anthony’s Hospital with family by his side.
John was the youngest child, born on September 23, 1963 in The Pas, MB, to Charles and Emily Illsley.
John attended the Red Brick School (known as Mary Duncan now), Scott Bateman junior high, and graduated from Margaret Barbour Collegiate. He also took a carpentry course at Keewatin Community College, he helped build some houses in the community.
In September of 1980, John started working for Manfor (KCP now). He worked there until he retired in October of 2024.
As a boy, John enjoyed playing hockey and road hockey with his friends. He also enjoyed playing chess, and was a member of the chess club in high school.
On July 11, 1992, John married Terri. John and Terri never had any children, but had a couple of dogs (Lance and Dude) that he called his kids.
For leisure, John enjoyed fishing, skidooing, camping out at Clearwater and Rocky Lake. He loved sitting around the campfire and boating with family and friends. On weekends, we would drive around for hours, John loved to drive.
John leaves behind his wife, Terri; sisters, Darlene (Maurice), Rosemary, Joy (Ahab), Roberta (Darwin), Heather (Harold), and numerous family members and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Emily Illsley; sisters, Carol and Winnifred; brother, Charles; niece, Jamie; nephew, Charlie; and best friend, Scott.
