It is with deep sadness that we mourn the sudden passing of Kenneth Reginald Anderson our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend of many, age 94, of The Pas Manitoba and former long-time Snow Laker on Wednesday June 21st, 2023.
Dad was born at Port Nelson, Manitoba on March 12, 1929.
Our Mother Hilda met Dad in 1949 at Illford at a Christmas dance.
Dad did many jobs during his life, mainly his first job loading grain ships at Churchill, CNR all over northern Manitoba and until his retirement,HBM&S in Snow Lake as a miner and long hole driller. Dad had many cross shift partners including Snow Laker Ross Schellenberg who would always call Dad around suppertime to touch base with him when he worked at Spruce Point mine.
Dad loved many things in his lifetime including fishing for pickerel, catching whitefish with a net, ice fishing some trout or jacks, hunting moose, trapping on his trap line and especially gardening. His garden was a sanctuary full of lovingly grown vegetables and fruits and berries. One of the sounds of summer at our house in Snow Lake was the sprinkler running all night to water his huge garden. One year Dad and Bill Jennings went halfers and bought a truckload of cow manure and spread it out on the garden in town here and Bill's Island on Wekusko. Come springtime Pew! What a smell. Our neighbor Hugh Bunn gave a few holy s**** in the morning for weeks. Dad grew giant sunflowers which was a favorite with the local kids. Speaking of the local kids including Ernie Guibouche’s sons, they always left with a smile on their faces after a quick visit with Mom and Dad after they dived into the candy dish. Dad loved his sweets after giving up smoking long ago.
Dad leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 73 years Hilda; daughters Agnes, Darlene (Tharas), Violet; sons Kenny, Ralph and Grant (Barb);
and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Ken is pre-deceased by his daughter Linda; baby son Kenny; son-in-law Glen Northcott (violet); daughter-in-law Monica (Ralph).
There will be a gathering and service Thursday, August 17, 2023 1:00 PM at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas.
May you rest easy Dad. You will be forever loved and missed by us all.
