Kenneth White Obituary

Kenneth Fredrick White was born in The Pas on September 9, 1954 to Fred and Delores White, the third of seven children. Ken grew up in The Pas and from an early age had a strong work ethic and his own way of doing things.  He loved cars and always said “Don’t get used of anything in the driveway”

Ken with Richard & Darrell married Jennifer Gibson on January 17, 1981.  David and Collin soon came and completed the family.

Ken was a hard worker with a big heart.  Starting young, he owned Kelsey Trail Esso for over 43 years selling the business on June 30th, 2014.  For many years he worked closely with his brother-in-law Allan and sister-in-law Joy.  Ken loved his customers and many a young person had their first job at Kelsey Trail.  He was a great boss and even years later former employees and customers have many fond memories and respect for him.  After a brief retirement, he took a job at University College of the North in December of 2014 on a term which turned into a full-time job as Campus Manager.  He enjoyed that job and the people at the school especially his office mates which were entertained by his “school of rock” and Ken-isms.

One of Ken’s greatest loves was our family cabin at Pothier Lake. We have many fond memories of trips to the cabin over the years. Ken would love to surprise the kids, picking them up from school with a packed Argo ready to go to the lake.  Always a project on the go but there was still time for fishing.   Many fishing trips with friends were enjoyed and a few Masters were caught.  Ken also enjoyed hunting trips and would always come back with great stories.

Ken also loved to travel and going to concerts, he and Jennifer enjoyed many trips including to Las Vegas with friends.

In December of 2019, Ken had a massive stroke but was able to spend the last two years at home with Jennifer. After a brief stay, Ken passed away at The Pas Health Complex on Friday, January 14th, 2022.
