It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our dad and papa “Bongo”, on March 11, 2025, at his residence, at the age of 78 years.
Leonard “Bongo” leaves behind his children; Chris (Amelia), Clayton, Peter, Gordon, Lisa and Annie, his 16 grandsons and 10 granddaughters, sister, Alice Cook and other family members too numerous to mention.
He was a loving father and grandfather to Emery and Nova, stepping up as a father figure in their lives. He enjoyed spending quality time with the girls going for drives and having their all-time favourite “KFC” dinner.
He enjoyed playing bingo and VLT’s and watching his favourite tv shows. Bongo was a big fan of Elvis Presley, collecting his memorabilia and watching his movies and singing along to his songs.
Leonard will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents Charlie George and Annie Gott; sister Reverend Lena Ballantyne (nee Turner); brother Ernie George; wives Geraldine George (nee Wilson), Freda Sewap; and other family members too numerous to mention.
If we forgot anyone, it was not intentional.
