Leroy was born on December 11, 1967 at Estevan, SK. He loved hunting, sport fishing and commercial fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He also loved Cooking as he was a Blue Seal Chef.
Lee grew up in Estevan, and later in Lampman, SK. He graduated from Lampman High School in 1985. He joined the PPCLI in 1985. After he got out of the Military, he moved to Winnipeg, MB to be closer to his sister Holley. Leroy then moved to The Pas, MB in the early 1990’s. It was there he met his soulmate Selina, in the spring of 1991. Leroy and Selina were united in marriage on July 2, 1994. They then moved to Thompson, where he completed his Blue Seal Chef Journeyman, under the late Gold Seal Chef Don Cleaver at KCC Culinary School. Throughout the years, Leroy was in senior management positions with many restaurants, diners and steak houses like the Kikiwak Inn, and the Aseneskak Casino. He had a passion for fine dining and making his own specialty dishes. Leroy was gifted with the knowledge of the wide variety of different types of food and as a natural born leader, he liked to teach anyone that was willing to learn how to cook.
In the summer of 2000, things took a traumatic turn for the worst in Leroy’s life. His son Jeron George passed away from cancer at the tender age of 4 years old. The family moved to southern SK the following year. While there, he was employed with Carson Industries as a pipe fitter and crew boss.
In 2009, the family moved to Moose Lake, MB. Lee was semi retired and worked summers commercial fishing. He was then approached by ML Chief & Council to run the new local cafe as manager of foods and services. Lee decided to retire completely in 2017.
Lee was always so proud of his grandchildren and they gave him great joy. Lee enjoyed watching a wide variety of movies and reading anything that expanded his mind bc he always expressed how important it was to gain knowledge.
