Lucienne Godin Obituary

It is during time of great loss that we realize how limiting words can be. Seems like yesterday mom was full of life.

Lucienne died peacefully Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Anthony's General Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 88 years.

She was born in LaRochelle, Manitoba, the 3rd eldest out of 7 children. Mom did most of her schooling in LaRochelle until attending the convent in St. Adolphe, Manitoba.

Mom met her husband, Emmanuel in LaRochelle and were united in marriage on May 21, 1955 in St. Malo, MB and resided in The Pas.

Mom was the heart of our home and family, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her grace and warmth. As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she poured her heart into nurturing her family and creating a home filled with love and laughter.

Mom was known for her unwavering work ethic and attention to detail. Her meticulous care extended to every aspect of her life from keeping her home immaculately clean to crafting culinary delights in the kitchen. One of mom’s great qualities was to cook and she had the knack for turning simple ingredients into memorable feasts that brought family and friends together. She loved hosting dinner parties (some being midnight suppers) with close friends.

One of mom’s greatest joy was spending time at Bob’s lake, where she found solace in the beauty of nature and relaxing in the sun.

She cherished her moments in church, finding strength and community in her faith.

And when it was time to celebrate, she knew how to party, mom loved to dance, twisting was her favorite, (you could find us in the living room doing just that) play piano, enjoying a glass of wine and a cigarette while surrounded by family and friends. She was like her brother Gabby, they were both great at remembering and telling jokes and making people laugh. Dad always said, "She was the life of the party."

With seven children to raise, mom embraced the challenges of motherhood with boundless love and dedication teaching us the values of hard work, perseverance and kindness, shaping us to be independent, successful adults.

Born and raised in La Rochelle, Manitoba, mom had a deep connection to the farm life.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures to tending and watching the crops grow to milking cows, which her favorite was Betsy. Yes, she had a heart for animals and for sure her beloved Bijou was there to greet her from the Rainbow Bridge.

Mom leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and cherished moments. Though she may no longer be with us her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her and loved her. As we bid farewell to mom, let us take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us now and forever.

Mom is survived by her 4 siblings Irene Roy, Huegette Robideaux (Laurant), Jacque Catellier, Pauline Roy; her sister-in-law Annette Baron; seven children Marielle Lewicki, Denise Godin, Jocelyne Godin, Reynald Godin (Kim), Claudelle Needham (Terry), Gisele Godin (John), Marc Godin (Shauna); 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.   Mom was predeceased by her husband Emmanuel Godin; granddaughter Danielle Mary McGinnis; son-in-law John Lewicki; brother Gabriel Catellier; sister Gisele Grandmaison; sisters-in-law Anita Catellier, Irene Catellier,

Irene Zaharia; brothers-in-law Dominique Roy, Antonio Roy, Don Zaharia, Wally Baron; parents Lucien and Blanche Catellier.

In keeping with family wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, 2:00 pm, at Riverside Catholic Church, The Pas, with Father Paul Bringleson presiding.  A reception will follow at
