Lynda Darlin Baker (nee Stimson) was born in St. Boniface, MB, on Wednesday, February 7, 1945, to George and Astrid Stimson. She grew up on 436 Percy Street with her older brother Bob in Brandon MB. Lynda graduated from the Brandon Colligate Institute in 1963. She married Bruce Baker on June 25, 1966, and together, they welcomed and raised their two sons, Robert (August 29, 1968) and Darren (December 6, 1971). In January 1972, Lynda, Bruce, Rob and Darren moved to The Pas.
Early on, Mom happily stayed home to look after her boys. Later, as the kids were growing up, Lynda and Bruce started Baker Locksmithing/The Key Hut in the late ’70s, along with a few other ventures.
Although Bruce and Lynda’s relationship changed, they remained close friends and business partners.
Lynda was known for her quick wit, easy smile and subtle sense of humour. While she had a quiet demeanor, she was determined and steadfast in all that she did.
Throughout her life, Lynda always had a project or craft on the go; from wood working, quilting, crocheting, or just about anything from the home and garden network (HGTV). She also loved campfires, Billy Ray Cyrus and NCIS. Above all she loved her family, especially her seven grandchildren, who were her pride and joy; she always had a way of letting each of them know how special they were.
Lynda started her battle with Cancer in January 2006, and with strength and courage, she went on to have fourteen more years with her beloved family.
Lynda passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas, MB.
She was preceded by her parents, George and Astrid Stimson; her brother Bob Stimson; her mother and father-in-law, Vic and Molly Baker; sister-in-law, Dale Rae Baker; and brother-in-law, Bill Farguson.
Lynda, Mom, Grandma will be greatly missed by her dear friend Bruce; sons Robert (Wanda), Darren (April) and her seven grandchildren; Kellie, Mackenzie, Hailey, Matthew, Aiden, Alexandra, and Olivia, and her many brothers/sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
