Lynn Violet Gawliuk was born Sunday, November 3rd, 1935, in The Pas, Manitoba. She attended school in her hometown and later moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba, where she lived for several years. After her time in Flin Flon, Lynn relocated to the community of Fork River, Manitoba. Eventually, she made the decision to return to The Pas, the place where her journey began.
Throughout the years, Lynn had worked for various businesses located in The Pas; however, in 1964 she obtained employment working for St. Anthony’s Hospital. Lynn was hired to be the manager for the Admissions Department. Lynn worked for many years in the Admissions Department at St. Anthony’s Hospital until her retirement in 1994.
Lynn married Bob Gawliuk August 31st, 1956. Together they raised one child, a son named Gary. Lynn also has a daughter-in law, Mary; a grandson, Gary; a granddaughter-in-law, Dawn; and two great grandsons, Grady and Ozzy. Other significant people in Lynn’s life include the McLauchlan family, the DeBeer family, the Zaharia family, and the Dubé family. Lynn’s religious affiliation is the United Church.
Lynn enjoyed participating in various sporting events; however, she especially loved playing fast-pitch softball. Lynn played fast-pitch softball for many years in The Pas Women’s Softball League and played for the team The Saints. She wore jersey number 5 and was the first left-handed pitcher to pitch in The Pas Women’s Softball League. Lynn was also team captain for her softball team, The Saints. Lynn and Bob enjoyed camping with their grandson, Gary, when he was a child at Iskwasum Lake Campground. They camped at Iskwasum for many years. Lynn liked making cabbage rolls, baking and cooking in her leisure time. Lynn was also an avid gardener. She grew beautiful flowers, and her favourites were pink peonies and orange tiger lilies. Lynn and Bob also enjoyed watching The Price is Right and hockey. They were season ticket holders of The Blizzards.
Lynn was accepted into Saint Paul’s Personal Care Home October 26th, 2016. In her time at Saint Paul’s Personal Care Home, Lynn participated in various activities including bingo. Her room was filled with many stuffed animals and winnings from her games. Lynn was jovial in her time at Saint Paul’s and maybe even a bit mischievous. You could often find her zipping around on her scooter. Lynn and Bob both resided on Anna’s Avenue in Saint Paul’s Personal Care Home. Lynn passed away in St. Anthony’s Hospital, Friday, August 1st, 2025, after suffering a stroke the week prior. Lynn was predeceased by her husband Bob, who passed away Sunday, December 29th, 2024.
A Celebration of life for both Lynn and Robert will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, 11:00 am at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home.
