Mardene was born Margaret Jean Pollock on May 24, 1940, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba, and passed
away peacefully at home in Kelowna, surrounded by family, on Sunday, Sept 29, 2024, at the age
of 84.
Mardene was smart, beautiful, and vivacious. She had an amazing way of working with people
from all walks of life, which was the key to her being a very successful entrepreneur &
philanthropist. She had a natural skill for throwing a good party.
In Manitoba, she was a town councillor, sat on The Pas hospital board, Manitoba Health Services
Planning Board, and was a Worthy Matron Order of the Eastern Star (OES).
No matter where she lived (Kelowna, The Pas, Clear Lake, Clearwater Lake, California or Florida),
Mardene was blessed with good friends. She loved golf and bridge and touched many people’s
lives. She was the full meal deal.
Due to Mom’s declining health and love and appreciation for her community, she started the
Premachuk Endowment Fund at the Kelowna General Hospital. The family would like to thank
everyone for the messages of support and those who were instrumental in her care over the last
few years.
Mardene is survived by her husband of 62 years Evans who has lost his ‘keep him on the top of
his toes, life and conversation partner’ and four daughters she instilled with her values of
strength and resilience. Lynn of Vancouver; Carol (Cam) of Winnipeg; Lisa (Alan) of The Pas; and
Marla (Dan) of Lillooet. Mardene is also survived by 9 awesome grandchildren: Evan, Nikki, Ryan,
Adam, Jarvis, Kali, Austin, Ethan and Jacob.
