Margaret Lily Ohryn
April 21- 1932 October 28- 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Margaret.
Margaret passed away peacefully at St. Anthony's Hospital with her family by her side.
She was a strong and willful woman. She always looked on the bright side of every situation with her humor and optimism. Her faith in God carried her through the hardest times.
Mom moved to The Pas as a young girl. She knew everyone in town and had an uncanny ability to remember names and dates. If you ever forgot a name or date, a call to “Marge" would soon correct that!
Her first job was at the Manitoba Telephone Office on the switchboard. She also worked at Kobars Hardware for a while but it was her love of fashion, shoes and jewellery that enticed her to work as a clerk in many ladies shops in town. Union Fashion, K Fashions, Anne’s Shoe Shop and Fashions by Eva are some that come to mind. She was a beautiful women and prided herself on always looking her best.
Mom told many stories of memories past. She was very proud of her community, spending countless hours volunteering at her Church and community events such as; The Pas Music and Fine Arts Festival and St. Paul’s Care Home. She wouldn't hesitate to give a helping hand to anyone who asked. She organized perogy making groups and baked her famous lemon cakes and lemon tarts for bake sales, friends and family. She loved a good joke, dancing, meeting new people and socializing at “the office".
She was a wonderful Mother, Baba, Auntie and friend and will be missed but never forgotten.
Margaret leaves to mourn her children Wendy, John, Sandra and son-in-law Doug and sister Elizabeth; Grandchildren Brant (Chantelle), Hayley, Melissa (Shawn), Courtney (Nathan) and Garrett (Cynthia); Great grandchildren Aisha, Kieran and Maci and her dear niece Joanne and Michael.
She is predeceased by her mother Cassie; husband John; brother Albert Melnick; and her beloved cat “Benny".
