In loving memory of Marion Purdy
On Thursday, June 3rd, 2021 We sadly lost a wonderful lady. Unfortunately she had lost her battle to dementia. Whether you called her mom, grandma, or your friend, she has definitely made some life long impressions on everyone she has crossed paths with in her life. She had such a contagious smile that could light up the whole room, and always had cheeky little comments she would sneak into conversations. A women full of love, and wisdom.
Marion had a beautiful life as a Sister, Wife, Mother, Grand-Mother and Great Grand- Mother. Marion was born to Mary Burlingham and Harry Paterson in Trail, British Columbia. She later moved to Victoria Island, British Columbia.
That is where she met her husband, Douglas Purdy. They were married in 1953, they did end up leaving Victoria to move to Churchill Manitoba. However not before having their first son, Rodney Harry Purdy, May 21, 1954. While the happily married couple were living in Churchill they had three more children. Robert Douglas Purdy, October 05, 1955, Pamela Gail Purdy-Thomas, May 03, 1959 and Patricia Glenda Purdy, April 13, 1970.
Marion took care of the house and children as well as working in the steakhouse restaurant that they owned. In 1973 Marion along with the two girls moved to The Pas, Manitoba to join Doug and the two boys as they were getting the farm ready for the family. Where she lived the duration of her wonderful life. Marion was always a busy women, helping on the farm, baking, gardening and in her down time she liked to sit down with a crossword puzzle; playing a game of Yahtzee with Doug or braiding hangers.
Marion had three grand-daughters Stephanie Thomas, Danielle Thomas and Amanda Purdy. She also had five great grandchildren; Stephanie has three children, Trinity Erickson, Tyrell Erickson, Declan Campbell. Danielle has a daughter, Paisley Chuchmuch and Amanda has a daughter, Blair Purdy-Smith.
Marion will be very missed by all her friends and family, however she will never be forgotten.
In keeping with family wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
