Martha (Lathlin) Bignell

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, granny, sister, friend and co-worker Martha Bignell. Martha was born on April 12, 1959 to Robert and Julia Lathlin in The Pas, Manitoba. Martha grew up in Cowhead, she went to school at Big Eddy day school and went on to get her nurses aid license. Martha worked at Rod McGillivary Care Home from May of 1998 to July of 2016. Martha loved her job, not only caring for the elders but falling in love with them, she made a lot of friends working here. Martha was a member of the ACW with the church of the Redeemer.

Martha met her soul mate of 42 years Simon Marvin John Bignell they were married September 11, 1981. Together Martha and Simon had four sons and one daughter. Martha greatly enjoyed going for drives especially with her husband Simon. She loved going to the lake to watch her grandchildren play. Martha also loved watching her favorite shows while eating her fruit. Some of her favorite shows included CSI Miami and Chicago Med.

Martha will be greatly missed by her family and friends and everyone who knew her. Ten months after the passing of the love of her life, Martha passed away peacefully at home December 7, 2024 at the age of 65 years.

Martha is survived by her sons Clifford, Simon John Jr., Steven (Linda) and Thomas; her daughter Clara (Robbie) Bignell; chosen daughter Marti Hogg; grandchildren Tory John Bignell, Dallas Young, Nikki and Ashley Flett, Whitney and Brooklyn Bignell, Robbie Zebrasky – Bignell, Ryan Zebrasky, Kaizer Zebrasky, Enzley Zebrasky, Tomkos Bignell and Carter Bignell; chapan Ruebin Spence - Young; Godchildren too numerous to mention; brothers Lazarus (Carol) Lathlin and Robert (Mabel) Lathlin; sisters Annabelle Mather and Miriam (George) French; brothers in law Ted (Lillian) Bignell and Nathan Bignell; sisters in law Louisa Lathlin, Blanch (Angus) Sewap, Emma Crane, Carrie (William) Partridge, Annie (Peter) Buck, Madeline Lathlin, Matilda Lathlin and Marge Lathlin; as well as any other family members too numerous to mention, if we forgot anyone it was not intentional.

Martha was predeceased by her husband Simon Bignell Sr.; her parents Robert and Julia Lathlin; In Laws Samuel and Clara Bignell; siblings Adelaide (Joe) Cook, Moses (Irene) Lathlin, Rev. Antoine Lathlin, Ellen (Edwin) Beardy, Mary E. Lathlin, Phillip Lathlin, and Christina (Glen) McKay; brothers and sisters in law Mary (Stephen) Head, Gladys Bignell, Harvey Thomas, Jonah Young, Gilbert Bignell, William G Lathlin; granddaughter baby girl Young; grandsons Joseph Zebrasky and Dommico Baker; if we forgot to mention anyone it was not intentional.
