Mary Ann Rebecca Lewis, aged 90, of The Pas, MB, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the very place she was born in, St. Anthony Hospital.
Mary was born on Saturday, November 16, 1935, in The Pas, MB, to Adam and Mary Jebb.
She spent her earlier years growing up in The Pas. Mary spent some of her school years at the Elkhorn Residential School and the Prince Albert (All Saints) Residential School.
Mary soon met her soulmate, and their love quickly blossomed into a lifelong partnership. On January 19, 1959, she joyfully married Sheridan Lewis, beginning a beautiful journey together. Over the next several years, they built a loving family, welcoming Diana, Wes, Lynell, Alden, Val, and Tim into their hearts and home. Mary’s compassion extended far beyond her own children, as she devoted countless years to raising and caring for foster children, offering each one the same warmth, patience, and unconditional love for which she was so deeply admired. She enjoyed building memories with the family every summer at Simonhouse Lake (Gyles Park) in the converted “Bus Camper” and then the Winnebago. Mary’s spiritual roots pulled her back to The Pas, and she set up a home in Bracken Dam. During Mary’s later years, her closest companion was “Cutie.”
Mary will forever be remembered for her joyful, fun‑loving spirit and the infectious laugh that could brighten even the heaviest of days. She carried a deep kindness within her—a genuine desire to help others. One of her most remarkable strengths was her unwavering honesty. She spoke her mind with a courage rooted in love. If she felt something wasn’t right, she believed it should be made right, and she never hesitated to share her truth—with kindness, conviction, and a heart that always wished the best for others. She shared her faith with gentle guidance, always leading those she loved toward the path of accepting the Lord Jesus Christ. Her greatest wish was that she would be reunited with each of them again one day, and that comforting hope continues to shine through her memory.
She enjoyed playing cards, beadwork, and most of all spending time with the kids at the school on the OCN reserve and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by Sheridan Lewis (Husband), Diana (Daughter) and Lynell Lewis (Daughter).
Mary is survived by her children Wes (Lois) Lewis, Alden Lewis, Val (Louis) Leray, Tim (Tina) Lewis, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
