Michael Petryk passed away suddenly on the morning of June 26th, 2024.
Michael was born on July 2nd 1942 in Flin Flon, MB to parents Frederick (Theodore) and Anne (Zaparaniuk) Petryk. After finishing high school, Michael completed his heavy-duty mechanic certificate at Red River College. With his incredible work ethic and self-starter attitude, Michael expanded his family’s sawmill and logging business which operated for over 40 years. For Michael, family was everything. As the patriarch, he was a devoted husband and father, and extremely generous with those he loved. He was a passionate conversationalist and loved to connect with those around him.
Michael leaves behind the love of his life wife Lorraine (Gamache) whom he married in 1964 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in The Pas, MB. He also leaves behind his children, Gregory (Michelle), Lynn (Ron), and Lori (David), grandchildren Colton, Jordyn, Kent, Rayne, Troy, Alexandria, and great-granddaughter Emra.
Michael was preceded in death by his father (Frederick), mother (Anne), brothers Allen and Richard, and by his sister Margaret.
A private family service will be held at the Hemauer Funeral Home on Monday, July 1st.
For those who wish to observe, Michael’s procession will pass through Cranberry Portage on Highway 10 at 11:30 am on July 2nd.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
