Mom (Myrtle) was born on Sunday, June 9, 1963 to Roy and Mary (nee: Sanderson) Umpherville in The Pas, Manitoba. Myrtle was the second oldest sibling of 8. Mom passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, at the age of 62 years.
Mom (Myrtle) known to many as “Popeye”, grew up in Moose Lake. She received her education in Moose Lake, graduating with her Mature Student Diploma. Mom worked in Moose Lake, brush cutting. She was strong and hard working.
Mom had 7 children. She welcomed her oldest, Kevin and second son, Jules in her teenage years. She then married Edward Stevens and had Mallory, Zelda, Nancy, James and Dwayne.
Mom was proud of her sobriety, she was sober for 23 years. Mom lived in different places but for the last 7 years of her life, she lived in Pineview Manor. She lived with her son Kevin and family for awhile, waiting to turn 55 so she can get a place there. She had a number of friends who she spent time playing bingo, cards, and completing puzzles with. Mom especially loved bingo, she was known to be one of the first players at the hall and would save seats for others. Mom also had a love for camping, loved eagles and made the best homemade cake.
Mom loved her family and friends. She loved all her 28 noosisimak and 1 chapan. She was so happy when her noosisim, Corbin was going to be a daddy and her chapan, Violet Umpherville was born in 2022.
