It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Lorne Campbell, who passed away peacefully at home in The Pas, Manitoba, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Born on Monday, March 13, 1944, in The Pas, Peter lived a life rooted in community, hard work, and family. He proudly served his country for four years right after high school in the Canadian Air Force, before dedicating 31 years to Manfor/Repap/Tolko (started February 23rd, 1970), where he worked in various roles and retired on January 31, 2001, as Assistant Superintendent of Health and Safety at the local paper mill.
Peter was known for his quiet strength, quick wit, very dry humor and deep love of curling, golf, football (Go Bombers), hockey (Montreal Canadians take the cup in 2026), and sports in general. For many years, he enjoyed curling competitively and later found great joy hitting the golf course with friends. In his later years, he could often be seen out riding his bike, enjoying the outdoors he loved so much.
Peter is lovingly remembered by his children: Kevin (Nicole) Campbell and Kara (Brad) DeGraeve; grandchildren Rianna (Brandon) Hewlett, Kaiden Campbell and Malcom DeGraeve; great-grandchildren Olivia and Kohen Hewlett; and numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. His Fiancé Joanne and her children: Kerry Halverson, Jodie Madden (Greg), Trevor (Kennedy), Doree (Kirby) and Imogen, Hannah (Jeremiah), Jim (Jackie), Emily and Reece.
He also leaves behind siblings, sisters Margo (Mike) James and Louise (George) Chernetz; his brother Roy Campbell.
Peter was predeceased by wife Carolyn Campbell; brothers Donnie Campbell (Dianne Bagshaw), Bruce Campbell; and sister Glenda Streifel.
Peter cherished his Fiancé JoJo and had many adventures with her for the 11 years that they were together. During the 11 years their adventures took them to Osoyoos, to the States, to Lloydminster, to Brandon, and of course chicken hunting in the bush. When he proposed, it was understood that they would be forever engaged.
Peter will be remembered with love, respect, and enduring gratitude for the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on
Saturday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m.,
in the hall side of the Royal Canadian Legion in The Pas, Manitoba. All who knew Peter are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
He was adamant that he wanted to have a Celebration of Life and not
everyone mourning from his passing.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #19, Box 478, The Pas, Manitoba R9A 1K6 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7.
