In Loving Memory of:
Preston Clayton John Thorne
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Preston Thorne announce his passing on December 29, 2024 at the age of 87. He will be forever remembered by his children Stephen, Michelle, Jacquie, Noreen and their partners, also many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, May Blake, Susan Anderson, Judy Brown (Don) and brother, Lyle Thorne (Robyn) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Josephine and Alex Thorne brothers Denis Thorne, Gary Thorne, Donald Thorne.
Preston was a hard-working heavy equipment operator and made a living in Alberta most of his life. In later years, he would return to The Pas where he lived with his sister May and later at Northern View High Rise. Preston will be remembered for his sense of humor and love for Country Music. He was often the life of the party and was a jokester. He enjoyed being connected to his Metis Heritage, family and friends. They were important in his life. Looking back at past events or persons was sure to bring laughter and no one was spared. He loved to play guitar and would get everyone going with a song like, “I’m a Honky Tonk Man.”
Our sincere thanks to the staff at Northern View who assisted him in his last days.
A very special thank you to our nephew Russell Thorne and his wife Marianne who advocated for all of Preston’s needs and comforted him with great love and compassion. Preston was in good hands.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on

Pentecost Sunday, Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the Wanless Community Church, 2:00 pm, lunch and cake to follow

Miss Me- But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of my road,
And the sun has set for me.
I want no rights in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul, set it free.
Miss me a little but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey that we must all take,
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Masters Plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
So, miss me, but let me go.
