Richard Brian Hicks

            Brian was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on Wednesday, May 8, 1940 to parents Phillip and Mary Hicks.  He was the youngest of 7 children; sister Anne Lake, sister Phylis Hasland (Ontario), brother Walter, brother Harold all deceased, sister Shirley of Winnipeg, sister Gail of Flin Flon and many nieces, nephews in both Canada and the United States.

            Brian also had a second family who lived in Snow Lake.  In the early 1960’s, he was a boarder at Pearl and Gordon Doak’s along with their 4 children Joan, Wayne, Bob and Brian. They all became fast friends and was considered part of their family.  All their children became like nieces and nephews to him.  He loved them all.  They loved him.

            Brian (Porky as he was known to many) added a third family to his life on October 7, 1978 when he was united in marriage to Bethea Ann Simpson (Betty) and became stepdad to her 3 children from that union he took on the honour of becoming Grampa to 4 step grandchildren and many great step grandchildren and great, great grandson.  They all loved him and spent lots of time with him.  He was loved by all three of his families and will be greatly missed.

            Brian leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Betty; stepdaughter Wanda Gauthier; stepson Mike; 4 step-grandchildren; many great grandchildren and 1 step great, great grandson.  Brian was predeceased by stepdaughter Teresa Lynn in 2020.
