It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Father/Grandfather, Robert Lewis Charles James on October 9th, 2024. Dad passed away in Cranberry Portage at the age of 74 years.
Rob was born in Kirkland Lake Ontario on September 3rd, 1950, to Robert Shore James and Constance Elaine Wright James. He was the second oldest in a large family of 7 children.
Rob started working at a young age to help support his family. He became a development miner and worked hard every day of his life. Eventually, he met the love of his life, Sharon Lynn Marie Clarke; and they were married in Thompson on October 10, 1970. A few years later, they welcomed a daughter and a son.
In 1992, Sharon became sick, so Rob made a choice to leave mining and work close to home. He took care of Mom, day and night, until her passing on May 7, 2003.
Dad’s big heart, combative conversations, quirky sense of humor and generous nature will be sadly missed and proudly remembered by his daughter Janine (Jim) Munro; son Robert (Kori) James; grandchildren Robynn, Bailee (Spencer), Cody-James, Samantha Munro; Robert, and Raymond; along with his six siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
To honor our father’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. We invite you to remember Rob in you own way. We are at peace knowing Dad is now with Mom, in a better place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to:
