Robert "Bob" Jackson Obituary

Robert Edwin Jackson, “Bob”, was born Friday, December 2, 1932, in The Pas, MB, to Robert and May (Morrish) Jackson. He passed away in The Pas, MB, on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at age 86. After completing grade 10, Bob began his working career doing a variety of jobs, all of which involved the grocery business.  He owned and operated Bob’s Grocery, a corner store on Settee Avenue and later added a second store, A & B Grocery.  After selling A & B Grocery and retiring, Bob continued to work, joining the staff at the Grub Box and continued his employment until his 86th birthday.

In August, 1957, Bob married the first love of his life, Anne Koshel. Together, they created five lights of their lives, daughters Glenda and Beverly, and sons Robert, Clarence and Wayne.  After Anne’s passing in 1987, Bob’s next loving chapter began in 1988 when he started dating Bernice (Roche) Marin.  Bob married the second love of his life, Bernice, in August, 1991.

Bob was a loving and generous gentleman.  His door was always open; he loved to visit and always had a story to tell.  He enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, being at the family cabin at Clearwater Lake, volunteering and canvassing for the MS Society, and playing games, in particular his daily cribbage and scrabble games with Bernice.

Together with Anne, and later Bernice, Bob enjoyed traveling throughout Canada, USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe.

Bob suffered and survived the losses of wives Anne (1987) and Bernice (2015), daughter Beverly (1976) and son Rob (1978), sisters Ruth and Isabel, and brother Harold (“Bud”).

Bob will be fondly remembered by daughter Glenda (Brad) MacKay, and sons Clarence and Wayne; grandchildren Jason (Erin) and Adam (Ghazal) MacKay, Colton and Tashina Jackson, and Zach Jackson.  As well, Grandpa Bob will be remembered by great-grandchildren, Harper and Leighton MacKay, and Tyra Jackson.  Bob also leaves his sister Marjorie Zelent (Mike), stepson Jay (Heather) Marin and stepdaughter Brenda (Blaine) Lassen along with their families, several brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place Friday, November 8, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Anglican, 1 Saskatchewan Crescent, The Pas, MB.  Reception will follow the service.  Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery prior to the service.  Family and friends may join us at 1 p.m., if you so desire.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to MS Society, Manitoba Division 1465 Buffalo Place, Suite 100, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 1L8, or charity of choice.
