Robin Nabess Obituary

Robin was born in Biggar Saskatchewan on March 22, 1959 to Bob and Bonnie Colquhoun.  As a railroader, Bob moved his family around and eventually settled in The Pas, Manitoba when Robin was very young. She was the oldest daughter with 7 siblings.

As a teenager, Robin met a handsome young man from Cormorant who became the love of her life. His name was Roger Nabess. They turned into teenage sweethearts and resulted in the birth of their only son, Rod (Roddie). They married on September 15, 1978.

Roger and Robin were a great match. They loved each other dearly. Robin was a very caring and understanding soul who looked beyond someone’s flaws and saw the best in them.  Roger was the type to help anyone; even give you the shirt off his back. He was always looking out for his family or friends. Both Roger and Robin were the types to help out without expecting anything in return.

Roger and Robin’s place was a loving home.  They welcomed everyone and at times, friends or family would be staying with them. Both had a nurturing nature.

Robin was close with her mom and dad. There were a lot of visits over a pot of tea. There would a lot of moments where there would be family barbeques, holiday get togethers, camping trips or lake days.

Robin loved the camp life with Roger and Roddie.  They would spend time on the trapline or camping trips. Sometimes, it looked a bit odd because they were sleeping in tents and Roddie would bring his cat.

Robin was known for her baking and cooking.  She would get requests for “Granny Cake”, “Lemon Poppy Seed Cake” or “Apple Brown Betty.”  She would make so many things and share with friends or family.

Robin was a natural caregiver. To her siblings, she was the oldest sister always looking out for everyone. To her nieces and nephews, she was auntie Robin who always was there.

Robin had many long lasting close friends. The kitchen would turn into a coffee shop.

Robin worked at the Aurora House.  She became a Crisis Intervention counsellor. She was very passionate about her role and the centre.

Robin was left heartbroken after the sudden passing of Roger in 2005. Life changed from this moment. Robin dearly missed Roger.

After 30 + years, Robin retired from her position at the Aurora House.  She enjoyed herself with online shopping (purses and bags, Tupperware, LUG, Thirtyone, YETI), having a big cable package and watching Judge Judy re-runs, she found Pinterest and pinned 8000+ saved items, Facebook was fun too, she would watch crime dramas and tearjerker Christmas movies all year round. She really enjoyed herself.  Her absolute favorite past time however, was a visit with family or friends.

Robin became a gramma in 2012. Rod and Nicole had a boy named Michael. He became a huge part of Robin’s life. She would tease Roddie saying, “Bet you broke your neck when Michael bumped you off the pedestal.” Robin would look forward to Saturdays.  On Saturday, Robin would come to Rod and Nicole’s for a nice afternoon visit that lasted into the evening.

Robin passed away peacefully after numerous health battles at St. Anthony General Hospital surrounded by her family on February 22, 2025, at the age of 65.

Robin is survived by her son Rod (Nicole) and grandson Michael; niece Samantha (Jeff), nephews: Bo (Emily) and Jesse (Natasha) siblings: Shannon, Kelly, Tracey, Treena (Dave) and Beckie; Brother in law: George Nabess. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, god children, family and friends.

Robin in predeceased by her sweetheart Roger, parents Bob and Bonnie, brothers Kim and Kevin.
