Ronald James Fenner

Ronald James Fenner, AKA "Poncho", passed away peacefully at St. Anthony’ Hospital in The Pas, Manitoba , at the age of 86 years, with family by his side.

Ron was born Wednesday, October 18, 1939 in The Pas, Manitoba to Thomas and Sarah Fenner. 

Ron lived in Cormorant as well as in The Pas throughout his lifetime. Towards the end of his life he was in care at Rod McGillivary Care Home in Opaskwayak, Manitoba.

He attended Cormorant Community School, and later on he received district service man training in Winnipeg for Manitoba Hydro.

Ron met the love of his life, Lorna Budinkas and they were married on August 21, 1965, at St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Cormorant, they had 60 beautiful years of marriage! They welcomed three children, Dale, Gary, and Kevin.

Throughout the years Ron was employed at the Alec General store as a cashier, CN Rail section, commercial fishing and trapping with his dad Thomas, Forestry, Thompson Inco mining, fishing guide in Cormorant, Manitoba Hydro construction, security at The Pas cells part time.

Ron always enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and anything that involved the land. He Coached little league and Women’s baseball. He enjoyed curling at local Hydro bonspiels with Lorna and co-workers.

Involved with the MMF fundraising and such. Enjoyed volunteering with trappers’ festival events.

Ron loved jokes and playing pranks on his family and friends, he had a great sense of humour.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Lorna; his children, Dale Fenner (Robin), Gary Fenner (Vanessa), Kevin Fenner; grandchildren: Chance Fenner (Jenna), Alix Fenner (Mandy), Reid Fenner, Hannah Fenner, Avery Fenner, Dayvis Fenner.; great-grandchildren: Emri, Kamryn, Brieyre,  Hunter, Jade, Adeera; siblings Art Fenner (Helen), Donald Fenner, Kenneth Fenner, Leslie Fenner, Barbera Constant (Edward), Ron had many extended family members, too numerous to mention.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Sarah Fenner; siblings, Donna Brightnose (John), Dora Myers (Ken Sr.), Elizabeth Fenner, David Fenner (Lena); grandchild Cassidy Fenner.
