Ruth Mayner Obituary

Maxine “Ruth” Mayner (Cann), age 86, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 9th, 2020 with family by her side.

Ruth was born in Saskatoon, SK on February 1st, 1934 to parents Annie Beatrice Coyle and Albert Stanley Cann. She was raised in Pleasentdale, SK on a family farm until 1952.

Ruth and Harold Mayner were married September 15th, 1952 in Pleasentdale, Sk. They were married for 25 years. They moved to Flin Flon, MB where they had 5 of their 6 children. The family moved to Snow Lake, MB in 1960 where they had their 6th child. Ruth lived in Snow Lake from 1960-2014. During this time, Ruth also had a home and career in Flin Flon, MB until her retirement in 1996 when she returned to the family home in Snow Lake. Until 2014 when she again returned to Flin Flon, MB to be closer to family and care services.  She moved into St. Paul’s Care Home, The Pas, MB in November 2019 where she resided until being called to Heaven.

Ruth worked as a housekeeper at HBMS for 25 years until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed sewing, and knitting for her family.  She reminisced often of how she used to enjoy dancing and listening to her records of old country and hymn music, also her great enthusiasm for sports, and her love of playing baseball. Ruth often liked to spend time on her own, but also cherished her time with her neighbors Wilma and Elsie as well as family and friends.  Ruth will be fondly remembered for her hard work and dedication to all things in her life.  She was a proud, independent, caring women who loved her family and friends dearly.

Ruth is survived by great grandchildren Ainslie, Kelsey, Reece, Kylie, Paige, Jaylynn, Damien, Jubilee, Jenea, Dominic, Hunter, Jax, Tristen, Khaleesi.  Grandchildren: Kristie (Kahl), Karl (Tina), Kurt (Rose), Kirby, Kent, Warren, Wendy (Lawrence), Wayne. Brothers, Scott (Rose), Sisters Joyce (Charlie), Lois (John), Vi. Children: Cheryl (Loren), Lorraine, Jimmy, Laurie. Many Nieces and Nephews

Ruth is predeceased by husband Harold Mayner, son Neil Mayner, daughter Virginia Mayner, great grandson Sebastian, mother Beatrice Cann, father Stanley Cann, sister, Lois, sister in law Edna, brothers, Lawrence and Fred.

In following her wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside celebration of life will take place at a later date at Hillside Cemetery in Flin Flon, MB.  Arrangements are being looked after by Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family of Ruth wishes to thank St. Paul’s Care Home, Hemauer Funeral Home, friends and family for their help and support through this difficult time.
